Snowstorm-Again!

They predicted it for days, all the time I wasn't particulary concerned because it seems they are never right, but they were this time! We were pummeled with a snow storm that brought with it about 12 inches of sparkling white snow.  I find it hard to convey the actual depth from the lens of a camera, but I'm sure we all know MI well enough!

Trip to Bronner's

Bronner's of Frankenmuth is filled to the brim with ornaments and everything Christmas. I had never been there before and neither had my kids, so we tagged along with the Thon's as they celebrated Mia's 3rd birthday there. It was a fun day and Luke & Maggie each selected an ornament and had it personalized.

Little Big Paw

Meet Little Big Paw...we rescued her from the woodshed, where she was trapped beneath some logs. She perked right up and is a sweet little kitty. And, yes she has extra 'toes' on her paws.

Hanging Ornaments/Christmas Tree

Each year, the kids get to pick out a new ornament. This year, Maggie chose Hello Kitty.

And, Luke chose a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.

Snowstorm

We had a nice snowstorm to usher in December! I would say we received between 6-7 inches. What better to do than to build an igloo??

Roller Skating

Being it was both of the kids first time on skates of any kind, this was an interesting day! We started Luke on regular roller skates, but he was so noodley, we changed him over to blades. He did much better on blades and even left the wall to skate freely! I'm amazed at how quickly kids catch on.

As you can see, Maggie was having a great time on her little roller skates. They were special skates for beginners where the wheels turn, but not all at the same time. She and Hannah (her cousin) skated hand in hand for quite some time. 

And, yes, I was out there on skates, good old-fashioned skates. I have roller blades, but didn't bring them this trip...maybe next time!

First Snow!

The first snow of the season caught their attention!

Pottery Class Creations

Luke was in a pottery class through our local Arts Council. These are his creations! His first class was Pottery on the Wheel and he was able to make two bowls. His second class was Clay Sculpture, where he made his sister a cat and himself a snake.

If you know anything about Maggie, I'm sure you know of her love for cats. I thought it was so sweet of Luke to think of making her a cat in his class. He knew she was too young to join the class and wanted to be a part of it, so this is how he included her. What a sweet boy!!

Grads

Faith Tech Grads-2008!

Our Flushing Bible Study Group celebrated graduation on Sunday, Nov 2nd by receiving a diploma in Theology. The grads: Rene Hubbard, Carrie, Jesse, Gayle Oginsky, Jackie & Kevin Thon. We will miss our Tuesday class!!

Laingsburg's New Skate Park

Laingsburg has a new skate park, so we visited it on a Saturday to test it out. I was on rollerblades with the camera, so you won't see me! ;) Jesse enjoyed getting his skateboard back out after a few years away from it!

Luke enjoyed the ramps! He didn't really ride down them full force, but he would coast over them.

Maggie found the play equipment. We brought her bike with us, but she wasn't too sure of riding it there.

Indian Corn Jewelry

Another of our Kid Concotions projects....Indian Corn Jewelry! Indian corn is absolutely amazing! We found a vendor at our Farmer's Market who let the kids sort thru the ears and pick their favorite ones. We came home, and removed the corn from the cob and soaked it. I had to string the kernels for the kids, but they picked out what they wanted made with it.

Fall Leaf Fun!

We had a windy day that knocked the majority of our leaves down. Luke snapped into action raking a HUGE pile. He wanted it to be taller than him and he succeeded!

I think this picture of Maggie illustrates true childhood bliss (it was taken after several jumps in to the pile).

Toothpaste Putty

Ummm, yeah, it's kinda gross, but I think they liked it!

Little Miss Maggie refused to get her hands dirty with this stuff, so she opted for a mold of hearts & a spoon for dipping.

Supposedly, it dries hard within 24 hours and is similar to a 'clay' sculpture. We'll see!! 

Luke dove his hands right into it, as you can see.

Pink Paint

Ahhh, PINK! Maggie is in process of getting her own room and she can finally be surrounded by her favorite color-PINK!!!

3-D Popcorn Art

3-D Popcorn Art was listed in our new Kid Concotions book from Aunt Tam & Uncle Jon. It looks good enough to eat, but I don't think I would....ha!

Dog Lovers

The kids wanted pizza for lunch, so I had them make their own. They always enjoy being in the kitchen, measuring & mixing. Luke wanted to top the pizza with link sausage, so we did. Now, some have questioned hot dogs for toppings but I say for those of you dog dissenters, don't knock it 'til you've tried it!! ;)

Maggie Turns Five!

My baby is Five, I can hardly believe it. Where does the time go? I know, I know, it's cliche but I remember as a kid hearing my mom say that about me. I never really understood it until I became a parent myself. Time goes a lot faster these days, or so it seems!
